Frequently asked questions

How are you able to offer such low-cost flights?

How are such low prices possible? That’s simple:
All you pay for is the flight. What does that mean?

We have done away with all unnecessary status symbols. For example, we have got rid of first and business class. All our passengers fly equally comfortably. Instead of the usual flat charge for food and drink included in the ticket price, we have started selling refreshments on-board, allowing you to buy drinks and snacks at fair prices.

Our passengers book their flights themselves, quickly and simply via the internet, by telephone or in person at a Germanwings desk. This means we save on the costs associated with using travel agencies, including commission and reservation systems. We pass these savings directly on to you.
Administration costs are kept to a minimum. We have developed a transparent tariff model with fair prices for additional services such as changing bookings and excess baggage.

Efficient planning allows us to optimise the way we use our aircraft. We allow passengers to share in the benefits of this successful system through our early booking policy – those who book a particular flight early on are rewarded with particularly attractive prices.
